8 MTPA Upgrade – Construction of Ball Mill No.3

In 2018, WITCO was awarded the contract to construct Masbate Gold Project (MGP) 8MTPA Upgrade – Ball Mill No.3. The project included the construction of 2m thick raft footing, plinths and pedestals, floor slab and other concrete foundation works.

It was very critical for the ball mill foundation to meet the strength requirements as well as for the pour to be monolithic. However, due to the low production volume of the batching plant, more efficient methods such as pumpcrete was not feasible; and site conditions exceeded the allowable pouring height which ruled out direct pouring. Instead, pouring was done using two (2) units 2m 3 capacity concrete buckets working continuously. The cement used has a relatively reduced C3A content to prevent cracking due to excessive heat of hydration. A high slump was considered in the design mix to consider the transit mixer cycle.

Construction of Civil Works Packages for Runruno Gold Molybdenum Project

STATUS: Completed

In 2013, WITCO Construction was awarded the Civil Works Package for the Runruno Gold Molybdenum Project. The package included foundation works for tanks, buildings and other civil works.

This project gave way to other projects such as various piping works, MCC substation, Assay laboratory, C26 gold room, return water tank, supply of stainless steel tanks and other miscellaneous works for the mining plant.
